Man Playing Guitar

GROUP LESSONS

Making Live Music is offering group lessons to self-motivated guitar players. You will learn how to play the guitar by playing songs together! You will learn songs from start to finish so you can just pick up your guitar and play. We will listen to music, figure out what to play and practice the guitar parts that we love. We will focus on musicality, technique, musicianship and having a great time.

We are open to Youth players, Adults and Seniors. If you love the guitar, just come along and play.

ABOUT THE LESSONS

WHY GROUP LESSONS

By playing in a group we can practice multiple parts of a song with different levels of complexity. We learn to play together, communicate music and develop skills at our own level and area of interest.
Group lessons also allow us to inspire each other, share ideas, tips and tricks.
Ultimately, we aim to have a good time.

THE STRUCTURE

  1. We will start with investigating everyone's musical interests and aspirations.

  2. We will choose songs to break down, understand and practice.

  3. Per term we will also create a song together with various parts to play.

WHAT WILL I LEARN

The lessons will help you to:

  • Develop a musical ear

  • Learn how to play songs on guitar

  • Learn techniques like strumming, finger-picking and solo-ing

  • Some practical Music Theory

  • Keep the beat and get into the groove

  • Compose songs.

ACOUSTIC OR ELECTRIC

I love both, so I won't discriminate. Many songs use both. Depending on everyone's needs we can do acoustic or electric guitar sessions or combine the two. This will depend on the participants, but we will make it work to our advantage.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START

  1. A guitar, capo, pick and tuner

  2. A grasp of basic major and minor chords (but don't sweat over it)

  3. Enthusiasm

You do not need books. We will use our ears and creativity. I will make notes and/or recordings which I will put on a private community page of this website. The point is to learn and have a good time.

COMMUNITY ACCESS

To support the lessons I have created an online music community for fellow musicians. It will have a group lesson section to share notes and recordings. By participating in the lessons, you get access to the community page. All you have to do is to create a log-in.

PRICING

The lessons are valued at 55 AUD per lesson, GST included. You will be invoiced twice per term.

The fee consists of 2 parts:

  1. a participation fee ahead of the term ( 50% of lesson fee)

  2. an attendance fee per lesson attended (up to the remaining 50% of lesson fee).

For example, for 10 lessons, the price is:

  • 275 AUD participation fee up front

  • PLUS up to 275 AUD at the end of term, depending on how many lessons you  attended.

Bespoke arrangements may be arranged on a case by case basis.

TRIAL LESSONS

Trial lessons are possible. During trial lessons you are immediately participating so that you get a good sense if the format works for you. Viewing is not possible because not everyone is comfortable being watched.
Trial lessons are billed per session @ 55 AUD, inclusive of GST.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS & COVID

You can cancel prior to the start of each term without notice.

When you miss a lesson, I will make sure that you are on track with the group. There are no make-up lessons, instead, you won't be billed the attendance fee for the lessons you have missed.

COVID rules may apply as per the venue we are using. Please stay home if unwell and look after each other in the group.
